Although FC2009 is definitely off the table due to a lack of participants, WC2010 is still on track to take place. I was reminded of this at changi, when I saw a FIFA shop past the check in area. They had a countdown to the start of the world cup and it only had 200+ days left on it.. The 3+ years since the last world cup have passed quickly.
I can remember those late nights sleeping on the couches downstairs and rushing to adam road / newton for a late night feast before the second match of the night started.
Let's hope this world cup is as fun. And that Italy doesn't win.
